CHILDREN
Children participate in worship and
in all aspects of church life.
Our children benefit from living in our multi-generational
community. We know we benefit from their presence. We are
happy to be their village.
We think it is important to help our children develop a faith
of their own that will withstand the questions of their adolescence
and adulthood. We aim to make them feel safe and loved, so
that they can be curious and questioning; we want them to
feel that the church is the proper place for their questions.
Music, drama, prayer, art, and Bible stories are emphasized
as ways of internalizing the presence of God.
Infants to preschool. The littlest ones are
cared for in an adult-staffed nursery from 9 am until after
worship. Parents can choose to have their young children join
them for the beginning of the service so they can participate
in the “Children’s Moment” and then proceed to the nursery.
Kindergarten through 5th grade. After participating
in the early part of the worship service and the “Children’s
Moment”, older children attend our multi-grade Sunday School.
Emphasis is on their beginning to grasp both the enormity
of God and the personal experience of the Holy in their daily
lives.
