| Wednesday, September 8 7:30pm Chris Smith and Brent Aldrich: Deep Community Join us as we speak with Chris Smith and Brent Aldrich about ways to deepen our congregation's connection to our community. Community, it seems, is in short supply of late. But there are movements afoot to support local economies, green initiatives, and even technological innovation all designed to bring people together. Congregations can be the cornerstones of such efforts. We hope you will join us.
You can download a copy of Chris' ebook, Growing Deeper, online.
| Sunday, September 12 1:00pm-ish Men's Golf Outing Please join us as we share in the suffering of the links. Bound together in this journey we shall compete for the Dickinson Trophy. The kabalist numerological scoring system may or may not have changed. Come and find out! Contact Rich Ramlow or the Church office if you would like to participate in this year\'s event.
| Saturday, September 18 7:00pm Colloquium: Relax Your Ears Joel Styzens with cellist Sophie Webber
Singer-songwriter Heather Styka
(donations requested)
After Joel Styzens was diagnosed with tinnitus & hyperacusis, he left his career as a professional drummer to begin composing for guitar and collaborating with cellist Katinka Kleijn from the Chicago Symphony, releasing "An exquisite debut album" according to Time Out Chicago with "music that you feel down in your soul" (Music Examiner).
Join us for his music and his story.
Heather's latest release, Travel and Teacups, features image-based lyrics with a compelling sense of poetry. Her warm, breathy vocals and distinct guitar style deliver songs that analyze the importance of places, relationships, family, imagination, and inspiration itself. In addition to having received airplay on folk radio shows from Alaska to Australia, she's graced the stages of Chicago venues such as Schubas and the Double Door, and has opened for Suzanne Vega.
